About Age

Age Kat’s musical career starts in the 80’s, as guitar player and songwriter of funkrock formation ‘the Frog’. Three albums were released and there were several tours through Holland, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Scandinavia. The Frog were support act with artists like Tina Turner and Millie Jackson and they also did a European tour with Kool & the Gang.

In 1987 Age joins the TV live band ‘The Veronica Broadcast Orchestra’, accompanying artists like the Trammps, Tavares, the Three Degrees, Sisters Sledge and the Supremes. At the end of the 80’s Age becomes a member of the well known Dutch band ‘Earth & Fire’ for a reunion tour. Because of the success a new album is recorded and the band keeps on touring for several years. The 90’s were the period of the Rick deVito Band. Three albums were released and they supported a.o. Joe Cocker, the Golden Earring, James Brown and the Rolling Stones.

In the mean time Age had several appearances with the Metropole Orchestra, doing live TV and radio shows. Furthermore there were tours with Valensia in Japan and for one year Age was the lead guitar player of the Philip Kroonenberg Band. In 1994 Age is invited to join the Jan Rietman Band, doing live performances in TV shows such as ‘Het Gevoel van’ and the Andre van Duin Show, playing with lots of artists a.o. Leo Sayer and Billy Preston.

Since 1999 Age is a member of the Swinging Soul Machine, and nowadays he is still playing in this band in combination with other projects like Hessel, Tess and Rob de Nijs. In 2002 Age has worked with actor Daan Schuurmans and played guitar on his hitsingle “Denk aan mij”. In the years after that Age has been touring with artists like Jan Vayne & Petra Berger, RenĂ© Froger and Willeke Alberti. Right now there are a lot of activities going on. Partly teaching at the Rotterdam Conservatory, partly working in his own studio or as a session player in other studios, and live performing with all kinds of bands and projects.
